FLORA
National Park Malá Fatra characterises with gross forest cover of area. Relativly well-preserved forests cover about 70% of spread. Fagus sylvatica is the most spreaded woody plant. Picea, Acer, Abies, Ulmus, Carpinus, Alnus, Salix and valuably accured poisonous Taxus are also represented there. Quercus has its typical northern range of occurence here. Oak trees grows mainly on sunny sothern slopes in area of Turčianske Kľačny and Lipovec. Sorbus margittaiana is special endemic of Malá Fatra.

Vasecular plants are accured more than 1100 species. Nearly 170 of them is endangered and classificated in the Red List of threatened species of plants. You can come across with lot of species of orchyd family during wanderings through local nature. Here belongs Dactylorhiza sambucina, Dactylorhiza majalis, Dactylorhiza fuchsii. Probably the most often occured orchis is Gymnadenia conopsea.

The most famous orchis, which has also the biggest flower is Cypripedium calceolus. Species of Cypripedium usualy grow on meadows and other species of orchis grow in callow, brightened beech forests.

It could sounds unbelievable but there also grow carnivorous plant in Malá Fatra. They are quite small so they can catch only insect. Pinguicula vulgaris and Pinguicula alpina are relatively good spreaded. There can be found species of Drosera- Drosera rotundifolia and infrequently Drosera anglica.
